The first time I overhauled a space was in 1979, at my family home. A bedroom that featured drab beige walls with old tepid fern-print linens was updated with mod white cube furniture and rainbow tapestry. The headboard & side tables gleamed with chrome trim which was accented by a chrome telephone! Today, all this seems loud. But in 1979 - wow!
Theatrical windows and a wooded lot present an opportunity to decorate with natural elements.
For this client in Washington, D.C., new comfortable seating with textured upholstery brought together the existing warm painted wood and neutral carpeting.
